ONLINE-Making Handmade Postcards

Did you know that you don’t have to buy postcards? Here’s a great project to let people know you miss seeing them! Or send postcards from your staycation. Shari from Twisted Fiber Studio leads this workshop to create postcards that are incredibly gorgeous and personal, made from supplies you have on hand.

Teen volunteer opportunity: each card you make and turn in to the library by March 20 for sending to area seniors is 1/2 hour volunteer credit.

· Thin cardboard cut to size per USPS regulations (cereal boxes are great for this project).
· Scrapbook paper, Tissue Paper, cardstock, stickers, ephemera (magazine pages, old greeting cards, wrapping paper, old book pages, old dictionary pages, etc)
· White craft glue or Mod Podge
· Brush
· Scissors
· Paint, if you want
· Permanent Markers (like Sharpies)
· Ruler or measuring device
· Pencil for marking shape of card(s)

Optional items
· Die cuts
· Ink pads
· Rubber stamps

USPS Regulations

Postcards must be rectangular to qualify for First-Class Mail® prices. Oversized postcard will be charged as a letter or large envelope.

Size Requirements:

· Height: 3 1/2" min. / 4 1/4" max.
· Length: 5 1/2" min. / 6" max.
· Thickness: 0.007" min. / 1/4" max.
