New Lyceum Lecture Series: Homeless Shelters' Gift to the World

Event Type: New Lyceum Lecture Series
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 2/20/2019
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:30 PM
Description:
Ryan Dowd, executive director of Hesed House, presents tips on how the tactics used by homeless shelters can be helpful to us all. No one knows more than the staff at a homeless shelter about how to serve troubled individuals with compassion and dignity. Homeless shelters such as Hesed House serve a troubled population (mental health issues, substance abuse, criminal record, etc.) which can make for very problematic (even dangerous) behavior. Shelters donít want to kick people out; learn about the ways they have found to get people to follow the rules and keep the peace. Registration required.
