 Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, features the talents of landscape designer
Frederick Law Olmstead and architect William Morris Hunt, who were collaborating at the same time on portions of Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair. In this slide lecture, art historian Jeff Mishur discusses the estate’s history, architecture, and landscape plan. Mishur discusses parallels between the fictional Downton Abbey and Biltmore, America’s largest private home. Registration required.
